Find out more about Julie McLean
After working as a Graphic Designer in Liverpool, Julie qualified as a tutor in adult education and now provides a comprehensive range of art tuition for students of all abilities. Watercolours are Julie’s primary medium inspired by their range of colours, translucency and versatility. Her favourite subjects are landscapes, wildlife and nature in detail.
‘Trying to capture the essence of mood, light and atmosphere in a landscape is challenging but enjoyable, something I will never tire of doing. Nature is an amazing spark for firing one’s creativity and imagination whether studying the colours in an autumn landscape or the detail in a feather.’
Julie has completed many commissions and sold her paintings through Wirral galleries and the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art. She also has a permanent display of work at the Sandpiper Studio.
‘I often use watercolours as mixed media combining them with pen, ink, Gouache and pastels or on different surface textures such as Gesso. As a contrast to watercolours I also enjoy painting with acrylics and oils.'
If you are interested in visiting the studio or attending classes, workshops or demonstrations, Julie will be very happy to discuss further details.
